Xing Xing (星星) is the dj project of multidisciplinary artist Syd Farey. Originally trained in classical Chinese music after spending twelve years growing up in Shanghai, Xing Xing’s background brings a unique cross-cultural sensibility and curiosity towards her DJ sets. Drawn to the sounds and feelings of breakbeat, footwork, ghettotech, baile, r&b and hip hop, Xing Xing's sets blend genres and global sounds to bring a riot of high energy rhythm and bass. With a penchant to get her listeners shaking ass, her sets are always playful and sexy, inviting you into a world where bass hits hard, hips don't lie, and dancing is non negotiable.

She has brought this energy to a wide range of venues and events across Melbourne, with appearances at clubs including New Guernica and The Prince Bandroom; bars such as Hope St Radio, The Shady Lady, Gracie's Wine Room, Lexy Restaurant & Bar, Dr Morse; as well as community and cultural events including Brunswick Music Festival, Golden Goose, Let's Tattoo, and No Vacancy Gallery.
